Growing Gardens is a Boulder-based nonprofit founded in 1998 with a mission to cultivate community through regenerative urban agriculture, equitable food access, and hands-on education. Operating three farms across Boulder County—an 11-acre urban farm in Boulder and two smaller farms in Longmont—we connect with diverse communities, including Spanish-speaking and low-income families.
Growing Gardens' programs have connected over 200,000 community members, empowering people of all ages, income levels, and abilities by reconnecting them with their local food systems and teaching gardening, cooking, and nutrition education.
Each year, we donate fresh produce to local food pantries, providing the equivalent of 23,000 meals, and share seeds and seedlings so gardeners living on low incomes can grow food at home—producing an estimated 90,000 additional meals annually. We also offer continued support and education for participating families to ensure long-term food security and success.
Through our youth programs, we engage more than 6,000 children (ages 5–11) and 350 teens each year in learning about healthy eating and regenerative agriculture—helping to inspire lifelong habits and meaningful connections to the land, their food, and each other. Additionally, Colorado taxpayers who make a monetary contribution to promote child care in Colorado, like our Children's Peace Garden Programs, may claim a Colorado income tax credit of 50% of their total contribution.
I hope you will join me in supporting the great work of Growing Gardens this holiday season. Thank you!
"This program has provided me with reliable access to local, nutrient dense produce free of cost, which has allowed me to incorporate a wide variety of fresh produce into my diet that I may not otherwise have been able to afford. As a result my physical health was directly improved, as well as a release of the financial burden related to purchasing organically grown, local produce." - 2022 Work Trade Member
