Children need a place where they can explore, be curious, learn and develop social emotional capacities. Young Tracks Preschool and Child Care Center enrolls children ages 2 months to 6 years, uniquely providing a continuum of care for families with multiple children in that age range. Experienced, trained professional early childhood teachers observe, respect, affirm and nurture each child using developmentally appropriate curriculum and conscious discipline techniques as guiding principles. Reliable developmental assessment tools support teachers to use children's strengths to promote growth.  A nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are prepared in house daily supporting children with a balanced diet for optimal growth.  Young Tracks believe that by providing a safe space and rich educational program for the children, families feel secure in leaving their children and are able to be productive members of the workforce while their children thrive and grow.  Young Tracks participates in the Colorado Adult and Child Food Program, providing free and reduced lunch for those who qualify, as well as Colorado Child Care Assistance Program and Colorado Preschool Program. Young Tracks strives to serve at least 51% of enrolled students from low to moderate income households. Over half the staff are bi-lingual in English and Spanish, providing a culturally welcoming environment for the large population of Hispanic families who attend.

Your donation today will help to support our programs to ensure that the community has a place for children to thrive while parents work. At Young Tracks, we provide resources for both children and families, offering the best possible start to children's education and a base for a successful life.

Mission

To provide the community a nurturing environment that promotes the development and education of infants, toddlers and preschoolers in a quality setting.

Background Statement

Young Tracks has a background that emulates a history and commitment to meeting the needs of the Steamboat Springs community. Young Tracks was formed in the late 1990's with the merger of two existing Child Care Centers. Young at Heart was a 501(c)3 nonprofit business, originally founded in 1990 and operated as an infant and toddler center, originally formed to help address the lack of care available in Routt County for the youngest children. Financially it is very difficult to operate a center exclusive to this age group and Young at Heart struggled to keep its doors open. First Tracks was a privately owned toddler center and preschool that was pursuing nonprofit status. In addition both centers were operating in substandard facilities. With the communities support these two businesses merged and built a new facility to house both. In 2002 Young Tracks Preschool and Early Education Center opened, doubling the available slots for infant and toddler care in Routt County.

Young Tracks is licensed for children 2 months to 6 years of age. Six classrooms are divided by age and when needed, developmental readiness. The infant classrooms serve children up to 18 months, toddler classrooms serve children from 1 to 3 years, the preschool classroom serves children from 3 to 4 years old and the pre-kindergarten serves children from 4 to 6 years of age. Young Tracks bases its curriculum on the Creative Curriculum and Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Early Childhood Education from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The administration and teaching staff are qualified and experienced.
