Upside Collective, Inc.

UpSide Collective is a Longmont-based nonprofit, founded in 2025, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Northern Colorado. Now in its second year of programming and growing rapidly, UpSide offers a person-centered day program, employment opportunities, and a growing commitment to residential support. As a Program Approved Service Agency, UpSide accepts Medicaid waiver funding; donors fill the gap between what public funding covers and what quality, relationship-centered care requires.

Mission

UpSide Collective creates belonging and purpose for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through person-centered programs, grounded in grace, respect, and integrity, where each person is known, valued, and supported to live with dignity, independence, and connection.

Core values

• Grace: meeting each person where they are, with patience and compassion.

• Respect: honoring each person's choices, voice, and potential.

• Integrity: doing what we say, with transparency to the families and donors who trust us.

Background Statement

UpSide Collective was founded in 2025 by Paula Hettinga Deemer and Scott Deemer on a simple conviction: adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve more than limited options. They deserve meaningful opportunities, strong relationships, and support that reflects their dignity and potential.

From its home in Longmont, UpSide offers a structured day program that builds life skills, confidence, and friendships. Vocational support helps adults discover their strengths and pursue meaningful work. And a long-term commitment to residential services aims to give adults stability and a true sense of home.

Now in its second year of programming, UpSide serves a close-knit community of seven to ten adults and is expanding quickly as more Northern Colorado families look for a place their loved one can belong. Medicaid waiver funding covers only part of the cost of this work. Gifts from individuals, businesses, and community partners sustain quality staffing, fund scholarships for families who need them, and build capacity to welcome more adults in Boulder and Weld counties.
