Is A Colorado-based 501(c)(3) protecting the future of outdoor recreation.
(NOW) is a Colorado-founded nonprofit dedicated to protecting the places we love to ride, ski, hike, fish, bike, and explore. Our mission is to identify, research, and reduce harmful pollutants—including PFAS, microplastics, bisphenols, flame retardants, and other “forever chemicals”—found in outdoor gear, apparel, equipment, and everyday materials that end up in our watersheds and wilderness area through recreation.
We work at the intersection of science, industry, and retail to create real, measurable impact that can be shared through various avenues direct to consumers.
Our work brings transparency to an overlooked problem: the chemical footprint hidden inside gear meant to enjoy the outdoors.
By partnering with NOW, donors help accelerate unbiased research, expand product testing, support manufacturing and retail partnerships, host direct to consumer events while sharing and giving the knowledge they deserve.

Nurture Our Wilderness (NOW) is a Colorado 501(c)(3) focused on identifying and reducing harmful pollutants—like PFAS, microplastics, and bisphenols—found in outdoor gear and the environments we recreate in. We conduct independent testing, share clear consumer education, and collaborate with brands, shops, manufacturers, and industry partners to promote safer materials and better environmental practices. Our goal is simple: bring transparency to the products we rely on and protect the wild places we depend on.
