The mission of Mile High Rowing Colorado is to help the youth of metro Denver reach their full potential through the sport of rowing. It attracts youth who are interested in rowing for fun, fitness and competition. The goal of MHRC is to make the sport of rowing open to all.

Testimonials

Mile High has emerged to be a state and national powerhouse in rowing, regularly qualifying boats for elite national competitions and advancing many rowers on to Division I, II, III and Club Rowing in college. Some highlights of some of our most successful Alums: Kendall Chase, Mullen Grad, CAL grad and current MIT Rowing Coach, represented the USA at the Tokyo 2020 (21) Olympics. Etta Carpender, East High Grad, Texas Grad, is currently representing the USA at the 2026 Worlds racing in the USA Women's 8+. Maddie Lips, another Mile High alum, Chaparral Grad, Yale Grad, won the 2010 Youth Nationals in the single boat; she also won a Silver that year racing in the USA Junior Women's 8+ at Worlds. Will Creedon, Colorado Academy Grad, CAL grad won a Gold at the 2018 U23 Worlds representing the USA in the men's 4+.

Mission

The goal of MHRC is to promote and encourage the growth and development of rowing by providing appropriate instruction, training programs, and facilities for junior rowers throughout the greater Denver area.

Background Statement

In March 2008, Coaches Grace Malacrida, Kati O'Hara with the support of parent volunteers started Denver's first youth rowing club under Rocky Mountain Rowing Club as the Rocky Mountain Junior Crew. On February 20, 2009 Mile High was established as its own club at Cherry Creek Reservoir with several old rowing shells and a lot of hard work from the team's community.

Thanks to dedicated coaches and a sustained community of current and former MHRC families and supporters, the club has exponentially grown. We have acquired many new rowing shells along with docks and a shipping container to house the team's oars and gear. Mile High High Rowing Colorado would like to thank all those who have dedicated their time and energy into helping the us grow into the wonderful organization it is today.
