Testimonials

"As someone who has always struggled with anxiety, I know that long-term therapy has been my lifesaver. I am so grateful that help is available at Jefferson Center for all of us. I have set up a monthly contribution that is within my budget, and I ask you to please consider your ability to contribute as well. Giving back and helping to keep our community safe and healthy gives me a special glow!"
- Suzie, Jefferson Center Monthly Donor

"To me, mental health means the ability to form deep nurturing connections with friends, families and colleagues, see the beauty in the world, believe in myself and approach each day with hope. I am proud to advocate for behavioral health and support Jefferson Center because it is truly an organization that helps people thrive, connect, and find that sense of hopefulness. In the wake of COVID-19, we need this more than ever."
- Mindy Klowden, Community Supporter

"It saddens me that so many people struggle alone with their mental health issues, fearing stigma or shame, despite the prevalence of mental health issues in our country. While Jefferson Center continues their amazing work providing hope and support to their clients struggling with mental health and substance abuse disorders, we, as a community can do more in supporting their mission by accepting and supporting those with mental illness and educating ourselves."
- Sara Hoffman, RSS Insurance Services, Corporate Supporter

"Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. I am a #MentalHealthAlly because no one should feel alone without the support they need. We need to continue to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. I do this by being a member of NAMI and supporting my community mental health center, Jefferson Center."
- Lorraine Bowen, Community Supporter

Mission

To inspire hope, improve lives, and strengthen our community by providing mental health and related solutions for individuals and families.

Background Statement

In 1958, a small group of community leaders recognized the need for mental health services for the residents of Jefferson, Gilpin, and Clear Creek counties. With just a few thousand dollars, they opened a mental health clinic in the basement of the Jefferson County Courthouse. This was an innovative venture in a world where 75% of those diagnosed with a mental illness were sent to hospitals, and those remaining were kept in their homes as embarrassing family secrets.

Since its humble beginnings, Jefferson Center has grown to over 800 employees and has expanded the variety of programs offered. Services are now provided at over 23 clinics, 40 schools, and in nursing homes, senior centers, primary care offices, and other community locations.

Jefferson Center offers a full spectrum of comprehensive mental health and wrap-around support services including:
