Mission: In response to Jesus Christ's call to affirm the value and dignity of each human life, build solidarity within the community, and advocate for justice for the poor and vulnerable, Catholic Charities of Central Colorado humbly engages in the ministry of charity for those in both economic and spiritual poverty so that all - staff, volunteers, and clients - may fully achieve their God-given potential.

Our Work
Catholic Charities offers services to help the most vulnerable in our community find hope and stability. Our services are focused in eight areas: Adult Services, Employment & Life Skills Services, Family Services, Food & Nutrition Services, Health & Medical Services, Immigration Services, Rent & Utility services, and our Castle Rock Office Services. Together, we can make a difference in our communities. As an agency, we continually add and redesign programs to meet the evolving needs of those we serve. By developing staff, tracking current trends, working inter-departmentally, and collaborating with other agencies, we are in a better position to develop programs and raise the capacity to fill gaps in our community.
Client Successes
ROBERT & HIS BOYS - Help with Employment, Nutrition, Housing, Case Management
Robert got involved with drugs and was sent to prison. While there, his two boys were put into foster care. Robert worked hard to get early parole so he could parent his boys and after five years, he was granted parole and custody. He moved to Colorado, where his mother lived, to begin a new life.
It was hard. He struggled with finding employment, his mother entered into assisted living, and Robert and the boys moved to their vehicle for two years. They would visit gas stations to wash up and get hot dogs. During this time, Robert heard about a program that provided new coats. That is when he met Maria, the Family Life Coach Manager. She enrolled the family into the program helping them with necessities such as access to laundry and showers, counseling, case management, meals, clothing, blankets, gas and grocery cards, skills training, and computer access, and enrolled the family in TANF and SNAP. More importantly, she gave them hope.
When a spot opened at a transitional housing program, the family was ecstatic. With housing, everything changed. Robert and the boys moved out of their vehicle and into a home. They began a routine of chores, homework, home-cooked meals - no more gas station hot dogs - and appreciated having a safe place to lay their heads each night.
Now, Robert has a good job and he and the boys look forward to what the future may bring. Robert said, "I don't know what I would have done without Catholic Charities."
SHANTE'S STORY - Better Housing, Education, and Health Support
When Shante, a single mother of two young boys, began having medical issues, she embarked on a journey to instability. She lost the job she had worked at for 12 years, discovered black mold in the home she rented, and her sons began having medical issues. That is when she met Vicki, the elementary school counselor with the Catholic Charities Family Connections Program. Together, they set goals to help Shante and the boys get back on track: better housing, education, and health.
Shante’s lease was almost up, so she found a new apartment. Catholic Charities helped with deposits, application fees, and the first month of rent.
Shante had worked as a CNA years before but let her certification expire. Vicki connected her with financial resources to pay for the recertification. She took the test and passed. Now she had the skills to get a new job.
Upon visiting her doctor, she and her son were both diagnosed with learning disabilities. He received an Individualized Education Plan to help with school, and both began receiving SSDI to help stabilize their situation. Now, Shante is employed and taking care of her disabled son. Both boys are thriving in school and looking forward to what the future holds.
Shante said, “Some days are really hard, but I have a partner in Catholic Charities who helps me achieve my goals. If I didn’t have Catholic Charities, I don’t know where we would be. I am so grateful.”
