A Woman's Place, Inc. shelters and helps empower victims/survivors of domestic abuse to become safe, secure and self-reliant; and through education and collaboration, mobilizes our community to help prevent domestic violence.
Here at A Woman's Place (AWP), we strive to make all of our domestic violence survivors feel like they are supported and have hope for a safe and happy future. Our advocates all provide clients with the tools they need to achieve a safe self-sufficient life. As the need for domestic violence aid and education grows, our advocates work endlessly to provide 24-hour crisis intervention line coverage, as well as support and provide various other community resources.
Each member of our staff has a tremendous effect on our program and its capabilities. Our Grants Coordinator demonstrates in quantifiable terms the tremendous impact that AWP has on the lives of domestic violence survivors. The funding we receive with the help of our Grant Coordinator allows us to continue improving our services, as well as continue to provide our confidential services to our clients for free.
Our Legal Coordinator provides clients with tremendous support with various legal issues that may arise as a result of domestic abuse. This can include giving information about protection orders, providing silent support in the court room, and setting up legal workshops so that clients have access to lawyers who can provide them with the aid they need. From providing guidance for filing protection orders, to referrals and resources for divorce and custody issues, our Legal Coordinator is here to help any way she can.
Our Intervention and Employment Coordinator plays several key roles at A Woman's Place. The intervention role allows for more intensive and active advocacy with high-risk victims that come through the doors of A Woman's Place. This role helps to limit the chances of re-victimization of a vulnerable population, and also helps increase the likelihood that these high-risk victims will leave our program having successfully become self-sufficient. The employment role allows for victims to meet with someone who specializes in employment, so they gain or maintain employment during our program to further aid in their journey to self-sufficiency.
Our Outreach Coordinator serves as the "face" of the organization to the community. This role focuses on providing community education and awareness around domestic violence and our services to survivors. From working with medical professionals to educating teens about healthy relationships, this crucial role focuses on making sure victims have access to the services they need and hopes to prevent domestic violence for future generations.
Lastly, without your continued generosity AWP, would not be able to assist individuals who come through our doors, individuals who have inspired us with their courageous stories, individuals whose lives have been brightened and who have been able to build new chapters in their lives free from violence. You are the ones who show up with flowers to brighten our days, you provide food for those in shelter on holidays, you hold supply drives, and you remember A Woman's Place during Colorado Gives Day and United Way campaigns. Your support allows us to continue the work we do to help victims turn into, not just great, but AMAZING, survivors! As a community, it is important that victims/survivors feel supported in their decision to seek safety. That is what A Woman's Place is for. Thank you for supporting us, and in turn, supporting victims of domestic abuse in our community!
Our mission is to shelter and help empower survivors of domestic violence to become safe, secure, and self-reliant, and to mobilize our community through education and collaboration to prevent domestic violence.
A Woman's Place (AWP) was founded in 1977. As the only domestic violence safehouse in Weld County, A Woman's Place is a critical lifeline for our community.
