"Nutrition is fuel for the body and the brain. Without proper nutrition, a student cannot learn and excel in the classroom."
Kara Sample, Assistant Director - Nutrition Services

Food4Success was established to support unpaid lunch balances for students in District 6. No child deserves to be hungry, and through your generous donations, all accumulated debt was completely paid off. We are excited to expand the Food4Success Program to support food pantries at all school sites by the 2024-25 school year.

The Success Foundation is proud to partner with the Greeley-Evans School District 6 Nutrition Services Department to establish school food pantries at all traditional public and charter schools over the next three years. With nearly 70% of students in District 6 qualifying for free and reduced priced meals, we know food insecurity is an issue for many of our students and families. While there are other resources available in our community, school food pantries are convenient and provide a readily accessible source of food assistance and food choice to students and their families throughout the school year and during school breaks. When kids have access to healthy meals every day, they feel better, perform better, and have fewer behavioral and health problems. School food pantries will complement existing breakfast and lunch programs and school kitchens will be able to contribute food items that may currently go unused. Other partnerships will be enhanced and/or established to ensure the success and sustainability of the school food pantry program including expanding work with the Weld Food Bank.

Students and their families will have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, shelf-stable items, grains and protein items such as frozen meats and poultry. District 6 Nutrition Services and Wellness will also partner to provide healthy recipe ideas, on-site cooking demonstrations, and other resources to promote nutrition and wellness through every school pantry site.

Implementation Schedule:
2022-23 school year - 8 pantries ($40,000)
2023-24 school year - 12 pantries ($60,000)
2024-25 school year - 13 pantries ($65,000)
