Sky High Hope Camp

A nonprofit organization

A diagnosis of pediatric cancer causes a child to grow up very fast. Often, carefree, joy-filled days of laugher and play with friends are taken away and replaced with isolation, appointments, and hospital stays. The opportunity to feel like a "regular" kid can disappear and be replaced with feelings of anxiety and embarrassment for being seen as different. Sky High Hope Camp is a magical and transforming place that provides these incredible children time and a community to put their worries aside and just be a kid.

Campers build on their self-esteem, self-confidence, social skills, and independence in this mountain setting. They make new friends or reconnect with old, establish new skills, often participate in new experiences like rock climbing or paddle boarding, and create positive memories that last a lifetime.

Sky High Hope Camp is run entirely by volunteers. In the over 30 year history of camp, no one has ever been paid, so camp is fueled entirely by grants and donations. Your gift goes to programmatic support for activities, food, and lodging in order to provide camp free-of-charge to families.

Testimonials

"Sky High Hope is where my son can feel like he is a completely normal kid. He feels like he's making up for a time he lost when he was in chemo and couldn't do all the normal things. He can't wait to go every year and when it's winter, he is always asking when registration is open. By the way, he is 17 and has been coming to camp since he was 11 and would continue until he was 100 if they would let him." -Parent of a camper

"Wonderful experience for both my kids (one cancer survivor, one sibling). A fabulous respite for us, as parents, even though our daughter is more than a decade post-treatment (still a lot of appointments as we walk the road of reconstruction). The passion and humor of the entire staff is remarkable -- "Camp Magic" -- as is their expertise, caring and commitment to these kiddos." -Parent of a camper

"The week that changes your life!" -Volunteer

"Camp has been such a safe place for me after my brother passed away when I was 14 from cancer. I have been attending camp since then and I can't imagine my life with out the love and support of each and every one of my camp family members. The laughs, the tears, late nights and early mornings and the relationships gained with all of that has been the best therapy to help get me though the toughest time in my life!" -Former camper & current volunteer
