Testimonials

"My 8 year old daughter started going to Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County at the beginning of this school year (2018-2019) and we both LOVE it. I am a full time employed mother who works at the community clinic in Thornton, CO. so I know how important it is to have resources available in our community to support your daily living. With a daily commute of 45 minutes to get to work from home, it was very nerve-wracking thinking that I would not be able to make it back on time to pick her up after school. Thankfully I was informed about this amazing program and was able to get her in just in time! Now I can go to work peacefully, knowing my daughter has a safe place to go after school and as mentioned previously my daughter loves to be at the club. She enjoys being around the other kids and all the different activities club has not only to keep them entertained but also to contribute to their growth and learning. I am very grateful for the amazing job Ms. Charly Whisenhunt and her staff do for our kiddos!"
- Ana Avena, Fort Lupton Parent

"I always knew as a kid that the Club would have a huge impact on my life. I knew that it would change the course of my circumstances because the Club gave me the opportunity to succeed."
- Pedro Lopez, Teen Director and Former Youth Member

"I'm happy to do my homework because you learn about science, math, and reading. Science is the best!"
- Aaron Reyes, age 7

"I like math because you can learn the answers, and when you go on a test you know what the answer is."
- Aneesa Chavez, age 10

"I will help the younger kids with their homework. I just want to do that."
- Joaquin Calderon, age 10

"I like writing stories for kids at Boys & Girls Club."
- Zayra Chavez, age 9

"Homework help is an opportunity for Boys & Girls Club members to complete their assignments by getting assistance from staff and volunteers. By finishing their homework, they feel more confident and also relieved when they don't have to worry about homework at home."
- Program Specialit at Fort Lupton Clubhouse

Mission

To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens

Background Statement

Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County in a private non-profit organization that has been serving youth ages 6-18 for the past 55 years. Founded in 1964 as a charter organization of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we have had a consistent and dedicated mission to serve Weld County's Youth. Today, just as then, our service to young people of Weld County remains our central focus. Through the leadership of a dedicated and high-profile volunteer Board of Directors, a dedicated and experienced administrative staff, and our youth development professions we strive to achieve our mission: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County is, "To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens." It is through the work we do every day that empowers children and teens that we serve to do just that.

When the Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County opened its doors in Greeley, CO we were serving a few young men out of an old tire shop. At the time it provided a safe place for young men to go to and learn some basic skills such as how to change the oil in a car and clean a carburetor. The Clubs now serve up to 550 kids each day, with 3,300 registered members operating in seven locations throughout Weld County and Morgan County. In the city of Greeley, Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County operate two organization owned facilities, the Monfort Clubhouse and the Pawl Clubhouse, serving up to 120 and 150 per day respectively. 2002 featured the launch of the Art Barker Clubhouse serving the Milliken/Johnstown Community. Operating as a school based site, the now Art & Marti Barker Clubhouse has a dedicated space in the new Thompson River Parks & Recreation District Community Recreation Center, which opened for Club use in June of 2016. In 2004, the school teacher's house, owned by the Galeton School District, was offered to provide an after-school program for youth attending Galeton Elementary School. The Fort Lupton Clubhouse became a reality in 2015, when a dedicated group of local volunteers raised money for three year of operating expense, in part due to a generous commitment by the City of Fort Lupton. Our Fort Lupton Clubhouse is currently located at Butler Elementary School. In 2023, Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County opened a new facility in Fort Morgan, as that community has a growing need for our services. This clubhouse is operated out of the Baker Elementary School building.

As we continue to grow as an organization alongside our youth who continue to make excellent strides, we hope to serve more youth throughout Weld County and provide even stronger programs so that they are not limited by their socio-economic circumstances. The Boys & Girls Club of Weld County has a strong vision of what can be achieved in our community and for our youth. We look to a future where all youth in Weld County are assured a bright future.
