Mission

UpaDowna's mission is to provide access to outdoor adventures for all through events and programs that empower individuals, create healthier communities, and foster a respect for the environment.

Background Statement

UpaDowan originally started as a MeetUp group in the early 2000s where residents of El Paso County would gather to take on the daunting Manitou Incline. Following the Incline, participants would celebrate with a beverage at a local Manitou Springs watering hole. UpaDowna's iconic slogan became, "Up a Mountain, Down a Beer." Our Founders soon realized that potential impact UpaDowna could bring to others beyond the 21+ group and began to offer free and donation-based programs for all ages and abilities. In 2013 UpaDowna became an official nonprofit. Starting with a weekly summer hike, our program offerings have expanded greatly to include Stand Up Paddle Boarding, camping, community cycling events, educational speaker series, climbing, hiking, and classes. UpaDowna's current offerings include providing well over 100 free and donation-based activities, programs, and events annually.
