Every child's story is at the center of our work. We believe that every child deserves a life free of abuse in a safe and permanent home. Child victims are given strength and hope through the important advocacy services, support and resources of the CASA Program and Child Advocacy Centers.

Mission

The mission of Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy is to provide advocacy and support for abused or neglected children by advancing coordinated investigations, prosecution and victim services through the CASA Program, Child Advocacy Center and Darkness to Light Prevention Education Workshops.

Background Statement

A Kid's Place, DBA Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy, was established in 1995 to serve child victims in Weld County with initial formation and operation under United Way. In 1998, A Kid's Place became a separate non-profit agency coordinating forensic interviews of child victims in a neutral, child-focused, culturally appropriate environment. The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program was started in 1997 to train community volunteers who are appointed by the judge to ensure that abused and neglected children had a dedicated and attentive voice in court leading to a safe, permanent home. In 2000, the CASA program joined A Kid's Place as an additional program, and they have operated together now for twenty years. The agency mission is to provide advocacy and support for abused or neglected children by advancing coordinated investigations, prosecution, and victims services. We serve victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to violent crime, drug endangered children, and neglect. In 2010, we opened a satellite Child Advocacy Center in Ft. Lupton, in south Weld County to better serve children in that area. In 2016, we changed our name to Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy to more clearly represent the services provided to children and families. In 2017, we purchased a building and after renovations, moved into the space in 2018 with an onsite counseling suite and a medical exam room completed in 2022.
