In honor of our beloved daughter Halston, who decided to leave this world on 03/28/2019, we provide scholarships to young adults in the animal service industry who have been impacted by anxiety or depression. We also provide animal-assisted therapy to students in kindergarten-12th grade referred by schools.
Since HHF's formation in Sept. 2019, we have awarded 10 scholarships to students impacted by anxiety, depression or other emotional hardships and who are interested in the animal service industry. Our recipients have attended Golden High School, Green Mountain HS, Rock Canyon HS, Arvada West HS and Bel Rea Animal Technology in Denver. Schools are very much behind our mission. We surprise the recipients at their schools! The school counselor/principal set up the surprise visit.
HHF has also partnered with 14 licensed therapists who incorporate animals into their therapy model. Our therapists are located in Evergreen, Golden, Boulder, Arvada, Parker, Greenwood Village, Littleton and Castle Rock. School social workers refer the students anonymously to HHF via our website. Research shows the benefits of using equine-therapy as well as other animals can greatly help those with anxiety and depression.
To reduce youth suicide.
To inspire strength in young adults, HHF works with school-based counselors and therapists to provide animal-assisted therapy to kindergartners - 12th grade students. HHF has partnered with 14 therapists who use animals in their therapy model throughout the Denver metro area.
HHF also offers scholarship assistance for those who seek to be in the animal service industry and who are impacted by anxiety, depression, or other emotional hardships.
HHF was formed in Sept. 2019....less than 6 months after the death of Halston. To date, we have awarded 10 scholarships. We also have partnered with 14 therapists who incorporate animals in their therapy. Students are referred anonymously to us by a school social worker.
