In August 2021, the French American School of Denver opened its doors to students grades K-3, making Denver history as the  first and only public French immersion elementary program to serve the Denver area.

Now in its 3rd year, FASDenver continues to take flight!  We have grown into a full K-5 elementary school with a faculty of exceptionally qualified French and English teachers who provide a rigorous French immersion curriculum to all our students.  It's clear that, together, the FASDenver community is achieving BIG results.

FASDenver also has BIG dreams, which require significant resources and investment in our future.  As we prepare to launch our middle school program next year, we are working overtime to ensure that we provide a superior, well-rounded education to our students and achieve our vision of a K-8 school.  Because we offer a specialized learning environment, we rely on fundraising efforts help bridge the gap between the funding DPS can provide and what is truly needed to implement our unique curriculum and ensure our success. This year, the gap FASDenver faces is $750 per student.

Mission

The mission of the French American School of Denver is to develop bilingual, bi-literate learners through a French language-immersion curriculum meeting the highest educational standards of the United States and France delivered in a highly diverse learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and empathy.

Background Statement

In the fall of 2018, a group of motivated parents sought to create Denver's first public, language-immersion school for students wanting to acquire French as a second language. After 3 years of hard work, and most importantly, the unfailing belief of many families in our vision and mission to offer an unparalleled bilingual education to our students, FASDenver opened its doors in August 2021. Today, we offer nearly 200 kids grades K-5, a premier bilingual education and we are just getting started! Next year, we launch our middle school program, bringing us one monumental step closer to realizing our vision of a K-8 school.

To achieve our mission we established these core values for the French American School of Denver:

Rigor. Our language-immersion curriculum in French and English will prepare students for top-performing high schools and universities worldwide.

Well-roundedness. Our students will be encouraged to pursue their unique strengths, passions and talents through a globally minded curriculum that promotes multiculturalism, the arts and technology.

Diversity. Our students and staff will reflect the diversity of the communities our school serves, and we will recruit and retain a diverse community through continual civic engagement and global outreach.

Collaboration. Students, parents, faculty and administrators will have unique and distinct roles and responsibilities for the purposes of building a strong and vibrant school community. Students in particular will be invited into some decision-making processes to give them the opportunity to develop leadership, communication and conflict management skills.

Educational equity. Additional support will be provided to all students with demonstrated need to help ensure they can achieve academic success.
