Devereux Cleo Wallace

A nonprofit organization

Devereux Colorado serves 1,000+ children/families a year with 10 programs meeting behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities and child welfare needs. Sadly, the need for services continues to grow at a dramatic rate. Our families rely on community support to provide for their needs and the needs of their children. Devereux is devoted to helping children and families reach their goals; but we can't do it alone. Help us make a difference in lives today and for many years to come.

As a leader of behavioral services for at-risk youth, our mission is centered on providing the best clinical and educational services for those who entrust us with the care of their children (at an early age) to ensure they become safe, productive members of society. Thus, our programs and services continue to surpass our goals for achievement in areas of clinical, operational and educational services.

By maintaining a lean bottom line, we are able to provide quality clinical programming even in the face of the recent economic recession. Colorado ranks in the bottom half of states in mental health spending per capita, despite the fact that we've experienced some of the most tragic and deadly events in our state's history attributable to mental illness.

In 2013, a growing need for expansion into community-based services (CBS) was identified and several programs were launched. We added services targeting those who require intensive home-based therapeutic services, a mobile crisis response team, and an independent living program for youth transitioning from congregate care to independence and employment services training. Since then, we've served over 1,800 children and families, many of whom are considered amongst our state's less fortunate.

After several years of difficult economic struggles and reductions in state funding, we have emerged stronger than ever. We are excited about our growth this last fiscal year, but are keenly aware of those in the community who remain underserved. Our long-term goal is to serve everyone who needs help, regardless of their ability to pay.

We currently have a variety of needs ranging from monetary to in-kind donations to board development. Below is a list of our current needs we would like to address this fiscal year:
Monetary Needs
- Cash contributions for general operating
- Capital cash or in-kind contributions to renovate or enhance our older cottages and units.

Other Needs
- Advisory board recruitment and membership
- Update our school technology with smart boards and the latest computers
- A specific "wish list" from our youth on our campus can be found on our website

Devereux Colorado has various needs throughout the year, so please call if you are have a particular donation or need in mind.

Founded in 1948, Devereux Colorado has continued to be the leader in the treatment and care of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems. In addition to a 100-bed residential program in Westminster, our Metro-wide community based behavioral health continuum includes outpatient therapy, intensive home-based services, an independent living program, a hospital diversion unit, mobile crisis stabilization and a robust vocational program for developmentally delayed adults.

Devereux Cleo Wallace has been providing behavioral health services to some of Colorado's neediest children, youth and families for over 67 years. After working here for the past 19 years, it is now my privilege to serve as Executive Director of this esteemed organization. It is our mission to provide the highest quality services for all those who need our care. We believe the key to successful treatment for youth and families is evidenced-based interventions, such as Trauma Informed Care, provided by competent, dedicated staff that enjoy the work they do. We cannot do this alone. The cost of providing the needed services to these individuals greatly exceeds the funding we receive. We are dependent upon individuals like you to join us in our mission to provide the care needed so those who need our help can heal and learn the skills necessary to become productive members of society. We hope you will consider a donation today. The citizens of Colorado are counting on us, and you. Thank you for your help...
