Mission

"Providing Opportunities to Improve the Health of Our Community"

Wray Rehabilitation & Actvities Center, better known as the WRAC, is a 501(c)3 non-profit exercise and restorative health facility, located in northeast Colorado. Our mission is to improve and maintain the physical mental and social health of people of all ages.

Background Statement

The Wray Rehabilitation & Activities Center, better known as the 'WRAC', is the result of a group of local individuals who had a vision to create a health, educational, wellness and activities center that would benefit the entire community. This founding team met weekly, as early as, 6:30 a.m. for up to six years researching, designing and building the WRAC. Regionally, there was a need for a one-stop shop. Ultimately, the WRAC fulfilled that need and remains unique in that there is no other facility like it between Greeley and North Platte (Nebraska).

On April 1, 1992, this 2.4 million dollar facility, built with money raised through fundraisers, private donations, and grants opened its doors for the first time and greeted its first guest. Since then, the WRAC has earned local, state, and national recognition such as "All-America City," the Joel A. H. Webb Award for Excellence in Health Care given by Colorado's El Pomar Foundation and selection by the National Governors Association for case studies of innovative programs in a rural area.

The goal statement of the Center is "to nurture a healthy lifestyle through exercise and education; promote positive social interaction of all ages; supplement the services offered by the hospital and the medical community; and support wellness and effective stress management." The achievement of these goals is done through the wide variety of services offered at the facility, the direct and ongoing collaboration with numerous service and medical entities in our community and the high-quality, well trained staff and deeply committed, focused administration. From the ground up this culture of caring about the community is the foundation of the WRAC.

The WRAC boasts a steady rate of usage with total visitations in 2017 of 53,237 (up 0.6% from 2016). The monthly membership rate ranged from 451 (Jan.) to 398 (Sept.) with 747 as the average number of individual members. In 2017, there were 33 programs/classes offered at the Center: 6 for seniors, 7 for youth, 15 for adults, and 5 for individuals of multiple generations. In addition, the WRAC houses Wray Physical Therapy (over 1,200 appointments/month) and offers private massage therapy services (up to 5 clients/week). Further, in 2017 there were over 4,300 individuals who attended community events held at the Center.

With a service area of nearly 12,000 individuals drawing from four Colorado counties, a region with a population density of 4 persons/square mile, it is not far fetched to say the WRAC touches on the lives of nearly all who reside with the area.
