The USO strengthens America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.
Congressionally chartered, the USO has been fulfilling this mission since 1941 at USO Centers, and through significant, positive and lasting programs and services. For more than 80 years, the USO has worked side by side with the U.S. military and we are intricately woven into the fabric of the daily lives of our troops and their families. Today, the USO the operates at more than 250 locations worldwide. Unlike any other organization, our ability to work side by side with the military enables us to understand and ease the hardships of service members and their families and fill gaps remaining after military and government support.
For more than 80 years, the USO has been the nation's leading organization to serve the people of America's military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment a recruit swears an oath of military enlistment, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.
Today's USO continuously adapts to the needs of the people we serve and their families, so they can focus on their very important mission. We operate USO centers in more than 250 locations across the United States and throughout the world, including combat zones, and un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy. In Colorado, the USO serves more than 240,000 active-duty service members and their families, in addition to the 13,841 national guardsmen/reservists, and their families.
We are always by the side of our service members, no matter where they go with our global network of centers and volunteers. As tempos continue to ramp up in Eastern Europe, the USO continues to provide a home away from home to help bridge the distance between the things they love the most, family, home, and country.
