At The Blue Bench, we believe that silence protects perpetrators and community protects survivors. When we listen to survivors, believe their experiences, show up with compassion, and take action to prevent harm. We help create a community where healing is possible and sexual violence is never accepted as inevitable.

The Blue Bench is a community of survivors, allies, and advocates working to prevent sexual violence and build a safe and supportive Colorado. Through accessible, survivor-centered services and empowering prevention education, we help survivors find support and equip our community to be part of the change.

We are angry and frustrated with sexual violence in our communities, the barriers survivors face, and a culture that too often asks survivors to carry the burden alone. But outrage can be more than a feeling. It can be a reason to show up, speak out, support survivors, and invest in prevention.

Turning Community Support Into Meaningful Change

Behind every service we provide is a person who deserves compassion, care, and support. Behind every prevention education session is an opportunity to challenge harmful beliefs, strengthen understanding of consent, and help people recognize their role in preventing sexual violence.

In 2025, the generosity of our community helped make this work possible:

• 2,147 crisis hotline contacts by phone and chat.
• 163 survivors received case management services.
• 137 survivors received individual therapy.
• 769 community members participated in prevention programming across 71.5 hours of education.
• 46 survivors received in-person hospital accompaniment during a forensic exam.
• 285 survivors connected with our resource line.

These numbers represent people finding support during difficult moments, survivors navigating complex systems with an advocate beside them, and community members gaining the knowledge and confidence to help prevent sexual violence.

This is what happens when concern becomes commitment. When people choose to act, survivors have somewhere to turn, and prevention becomes a shared responsibility.

Showing Up for Survivors

Healing looks different for everyone. That's why The Blue Bench offers a range of survivor-centered services designed to meet people where they are.

Our crisis and resource lines connect survivors with emotional support, information, and referrals. Our clinical programs provide opportunities for individual and group therapy. Our case managers help survivors navigate legal processes, access resources, and understand their options, whether or not they choose to report.

We strive to make our services accessible to teens and adults of all gender and sexual identities, with services available in English and Spanish. Most services are based on recommended donations, and no one is turned away because they cannot pay.

We believe survivors deserve to be met with dignity and compassion—not judgment, blame, or barriers to care. We put that belief into practice by creating spaces where survivors can be heard, supported, and empowered to make their own choices.

Prevention Is Everyone's Responsibility

Supporting survivors is essential. Preventing sexual violence before it happens is essential, too.

Through research-based prevention education, we work with schools, workplaces, and community partners to teach consent, healthy boundaries, bystander intervention, and ways to recognize and respond to harmful behavior.

We know that preventing sexual violence requires more than outrage after harm occurs. It requires conversations that challenge victim-blaming, people who are willing to intervene safely, and communities that refuse to look away.

Every person who learns how to recognize harmful behavior, support someone who discloses an experience of sexual violence, or contribute to a culture of consent can be part of meaningful change.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The need for survivor-centered services continues, even as funding challenges and an increasingly difficult political climate place additional pressure on organizations like ours.

In 2027, we're looking ahead to strengthening our services, introducing EAAA training, and formally expanding our services to Boulder. We're committed to responding to emerging needs while protecting access to care for all survivors, including women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and undocumented people.
