This Colorado Gives Day, weโre asking our community to help us Fence a Miracle โ the first and most important step in creating the new expansion at Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary.
In August 2023, we purchased land that will double the space available to our 20+ species and nearly 500 rescued residents. Now itโs finally time to turn that dream into reality โ to build the fences, move the sheds, and prepare the land so everyone can safely explore their new home.

๐ Perimeter Chain-Link Fence (400 ft along 88th Ave): $14,000

๐ Excavator Rental for Pond + Runoff Work: $3,000

This new space will finally open to the public the lives of the sanctuaryโs last rescues from early 2023 โ Cookie and Jellyroll, two adorable mini cows, along with Stevie, our blind cow, and Mateo, our brave three-legged survivor. These four have been waiting patiently, tucked away in a quiet corner of the sanctuary, for the day when visitors can finally meet them face-to-face.
Your gift will build the fences that make that day possible.
And the excavator work will create a safe new pond and runoff system โ including a special wading pond for our 6 handsome water buffaloes, including Gandalf and Dobby, whose joy in the water is pure happiness for anyone who sees it.
