Peak Potential: Supporting Jack’s Journey with Small Champions
From the time he was a toddler, we knew Jack had a brilliant, unique mind. While other kids were running around at preschool, he was focused inside, quietly building complex, intricate towers. As he grew, so did his intensity and his sensitivity to the world around him. By the time he turned eight, Jack had been identified as Twice-Exceptional (2e) - meaning he is both profoundly gifted and navigates ADHD - along with navigating Celiac disease and Sensory Integration Differences.
This combination means Jack perceives and experiences the world at an astonishing volume. While it makes him incredibly creative and capable, it can also make typical, chaotic group settings overwhelming. Where Jack truly shines and finds his footing is when he has structured, individualized support.
For years, friends told us that the Small Champions Program in Eagle County would be a game-changer for Jack, but finally sitting down with John and Sandy blew our expectations away. They welcomed our family with open arms and immediately saw Jack’s immense potential.
This past winter, Small Champions paired Jack with an incredible ski instructor. The bond was instant. Jack absolutely adored her, and under her dedicated, one-on-one guidance, his confidence skyrocketed. By the end of the season, they weren’t just cruising the mountain, they were tackling black diamond runs together! This summer, he is taking on new adventures through their phenomenal camp programs, including an upcoming sleepaway camp at the National Ability Center in Utah.
We believe from the bottom of our hearts that these opportunities are life-changing. For Jack, the specialized, one-on-one pairing that Small Champions provides isn't just a fun recreational choice; it is a vital, therapeutic environment where his mind and body can truly align, allowing him to succeed on his own terms.
