Studies show that unsupervised time, particularly after school and during summer, can increase the likelihood of youth getting into trouble. In the Denver metro area, nearly 25% of juvenile crimes occur between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., when many students are out of school but lack adult supervision. During the summer, this risk can be even higher due to the extended unstructured time youth face, which can lead to risky behavior, substance use, and negative peer influence.
At the Youth Empowerment Agency (YEA), we’re committed to addressing this need by providing a safe, engaging environment for youth. This year, we aim to serve 75 young people through after-school and summer programs and are working to launch our own center in Aurora, Colorado. To make this accessible to more families, we need your support. Donations and sponsorships will help cover the cost of care, ensuring that every youth has a safe place to go, positive mentors, and enriching opportunities. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and build a stronger, safer community.
