Pueblo Zoo staff and board have joined together to raise funds for one of their Pueblo favorites: llamas. Your donation will fund their food, enrichment and care all year. Colorado Gives Day is your chance to support these beautiful animals, so they can share their conservation success story with the world!
Gifts to this campaign will be matched $1 for $1, doubling the impact of your gift and helping us reach our $20,000 goal to feed and care for the llamas (and their friends the alpacas & guanaco)!
New faces are now in the llama yard - and they aren't just llamas! We have 3 types of animals representing the camelid family. Llamas are descendants of guanacos that were domesticated 6,000 to 7,000 years ago. An alpaca is a domesticated type of guanaco.
- Pacha, the Guanaco, recently arrived at the zoo and we have found that he is a spitter and ornery.
- Llamas Murphy & Sue arrived at the zoo this year. They are very curious and friendly.
- We have 2 alpacas named Kuzco and Merida.
