Here in the West, water defines our landscapes, ensures our economic viability, and even enables our lifestyle. When you go for a hike and your dog stops to drink from an alpine spring - when you make deep powder turns or cruise down perfect corduroy - when you dip your paddle into the froth below a rapid or cast a streamer under the golden cottonwoods - or when you flush the toilet or turn on the tap .... perhaps we all take it a little for granted that we have access to flowing rivers and streams.
However, current threats to river health, including population growth and climate change, challenge us to face the reality of a dwindling water supply, compromised water quality, and the loss of plants and animals that make rivers their home.
The Eagle River Coalition exists to ensure local waterways have a voice, that they are considered when we evaluate plans for development and other initiatives that impact water quantity and quality. For decades, the board and staff at the Eagle River Coalition, previously the Eagle River Watershed Council, have stood by local waterways, advancing the the action and advocacy that helps secure your community's vibrant future.
