IRCNoCo: Overcoming Challenging Times with Hope & Strength
Every morning, hope steps through our doors. Families arrive after arduous, uncertain journeys—often leaving everything behind but their dream of safety and a brighter future. With resilience as their steadfast guide, they start anew: mastering English, securing jobs, enrolling kids in school, and reclaiming a sense of home. Here's one story where hope came alive at the Immigrant & Refugee Center of Northern Colorado:
Sandra’s Story
Hailing from Michoacán, Mexico, Sandra fled escalating cartel violence that ravaged her community and claimed her husband’s life. Seven years ago, she sought asylum to build a secure future for her family. This year, she bravely joined a citizenship class, where IRCNoCo staff equipped her with essential knowledge and guidance through every step of the process.
Thanks to that support, Sandra recently passed her citizenship exam and was sworn in as a proud U.S. citizen. She wasted no time registering to vote and signing up to volunteer at IRCNoCo, eager to pay forward the help she received.
Today, as a single mom, Sandra juggles a full-time job, ongoing classes, and volunteering—all while uplifting her family and neighbors. Her generous spirit shines through in the homemade meals she shares with classmates and teachers, a heartfelt custom from her hometown that says “I care.” Sandra embodies resilience, compassion, and commitment, proving what your generosity can achieve. She inspires us all at IRCNoCo.
Build Hope Together with Us
At IRCNoCo, we see stories like Sandra’s unfold daily—tales of courage and profound change. That same unbreakable spirit has driven our own expansion, with record-breaking participation this year. We now support over 2,000 clients through English language acquisition (ELA) classes, citizenship prep, navigation services, and workforce development. Yet demand for ELA classes outpaces supply, leaving 200 hopeful students on our waitlist.
This Colorado Gives Day, your donation will fund new instructors and vital resources, empowering more people to take that bold first step toward a resilient life.
Join us in sustaining hope for immigrants, refugees, and asylees across Northern Colorado!
