Summary

You know what has me humbled?

I'm a part of something so dramatically beneficial that it is taking down a diversion dam on the North Fork of the Big Thompson River (west of Loveland)! It's Wildlands Restoration Volunteer. And you can be a part of it, too.

The dam is not huge - it was one a diversion for a hatchery - but its removal will reconnect the fishery all the way from Rocky Mountain National Park down to the main stem (Loveland).

What does that mean, you ask? It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will make a HUGE, HUGE difference for native wildlife, including two Endangered Species.

And after a year and a half of hard work, the dam is expected to come down this month (November, 2015)! Are you excited yet?

Volunteers will be re-vegetating the stream bank once the heavy machinery is out of the way. Those volunteers will include low-income school children who drink the water downstream. And Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be reintroducing Colorado's state fish when we're done: the Endangered Greenback cutthroat trout.

How cool is that? We should all have a party once it's said and done.

It wouldn't have happened without a huge group of people and organizations that want to see things like this happen. And WRV brought them all together.

That's the kind of group WRV is and the reason I'm excited to ask you to be a part of it. Please help us celebrate the dam coming down by donating to keep this great thing going!
