Leta Rundell and Faith Lloyd Officially Launch the Autistic Wings' Golden Chrysalises!

Three years after founding Autistic Wings Dance Company, Leta Rundell is finally ready to launch her dream of a pre-professional program here in Colorado Springs. Like the rest of Autistic Wings, this program is designed with the autistic dancer in mind. From continuing the small class sizes of the studio, to making sure each dancer's sensory needs are met, the Golden Chrysalises is ready to help each dancer soar on their wings.

Doing Things Differently

Unlike traditional dance studio company's, the Golden Chrysalises is not a one-size-fits-all. Founders Leta and Faith Lloyd are as different as day and night with what styles of dance they like. (Seriously, don't ask Faith to tap dance or you will get a quick and firm "No!") Yet, somehow they compliment each other, just like we all compliment each other in life.

Our dancers aren't asked to fit the mold. They don't have to love Commercial like Faith, or be a tap dancer like Leta. They can even be ballet dancers. Their different styles aren't what holds this group together. It's their love of dance, their dreams, and their drive to make it in a world where even "neurotypical" dancers often fail.

Due to the small size of our studio space, these dancers come in during the day to train, do their schoolwork, and take classes on dance history and how to be a professional in the entertainment industry. At night, the tables turn and they go from "student" to intern, learning how to run the studio and how to teach classes.

A program like this isn't cheap. The specialized classes are expensive, with the program running thousands of dollars a month per dancer. That's before the Golden Chrysalises even think about renting a venue for their latest concert, which runs in the tens of thousands. All of our dancers are on scholarship, and are even paid interns.
