Tied Together!

A personal mission to support our students in a simple but powerful way.

Recently, I purchased basketball shoes for some of our student-athletes. It wasn’t about the gear, it was about the message. They know that “student” comes first and “athlete” comes second. It’s about priorities, character, and showing them that they’re valued beyond the court.

As parents, guardians, and role models, we help create the pathway for the next generation. Our footprints will eventually fade away. That's when we leave behind the opportunity for our students to make their own footprints. To build a better path for those coming after them.

I’ve been fortunate to walk alongside some great mentors in my life. A mother who taught me how to Love. A grandma who taught me how to Read. A coach who taught me the meaning of Student Athlete. That kind of belief changes lives. Now, through my roles as WPS Custodial Trainer Lead, WPS Wellness Leader, and Westy Futures Basketball Coach. I’m driven to give that same belief back and even more.  Whether it’s through mentorship, guidance, or something as simple as a new book with a new pair of shoes.

Partnering with the WPS Foundation has helped open more doors. Now with their support, I’m hoping to expand this initiative to provide shoes and books for many Students and Student Athletes at every school across the district. WPS staying Tied Together!
