Somewhere in Colorado, a young person is sitting with a thought that could change a school, a neighborhood, or a law. They have not said it out loud. Maybe no one has asked. Maybe they think no one would listen.

That silence is the problem. Decisions about young people are made every day, in rooms where young people are not sitting.

We asked them anyway.

Thousands of young people answered through our YouthScan Program. They told us what they need and what they would change. One, age 19, asked for “support to give a voice to those who are scared to be themselves.” Another, age 18, said it in five words: “We all shape the future.”

They are not waiting to be the future. They are telling us how to build it now.

For 16 years, YouthRoots has made sure they are heard. We train young people to turn what they know into real change, in Colorado and beyond. When they are heard, communities get better answers.

But being heard takes someone willing to plug them in. That can be you.
