Har Mishpacha is more than a synagogue — it is a home, a gathering place, and a true “Mountain Family” for Jewish life in Steamboat Springs.
In a rural mountain town where Jewish experiences were once few and far between, Har Mishpacha has created a vibrant, welcoming, and deeply meaningful community where people of all backgrounds, ages, and levels of observance can connect through joyful Judaism, learning, friendship, spirituality, and support.
For many families, Har Mishpacha has made it possible to raise children with strong Jewish identities in a place where that once felt difficult or impossible. Through Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, youth education, music, social gatherings, pastoral care, interfaith partnerships, and acts of chesed (loving-kindness), Har Mishpacha provides a dependable source of Jewish connection in the Yampa Valley.
Whether someone lives in Steamboat year-round, part-time, or is simply visiting, Har Mishpacha is a place where everyone can find belonging. It is a community that inspires people to bring Judaism into their own homes and lives while fostering connection to the broader Steamboat community.
The impact of Har Mishpacha extends far beyond our congregation. Through educational outreach, bridge-building, pastoral counseling, and efforts to address antisemitism and discrimination, Har Mishpacha serves as a beacon of compassion, understanding, and hope throughout Northwest Colorado.
To preserve this vital community l’dor vador — from generation to generation — we are building the Har Mishpacha Endowment Fund, held at the Rose Community Foundation.
In 2025, Les and Linda Liman generously established the seed funding for this endowment, making a visionary investment in the future of Jewish life in Steamboat Springs. Their generosity laid the foundation for ensuring that future generations will always have access to Jewish connection, education, celebration, and spiritual support in our mountain community.
Now, we hope to build upon that gift and double the Limans’ generosity by 2030 — securing the long-term sustainability, strength, and vibrancy of our beloved Mountain Family for generations to come.
A strong endowment ensures that Jewish life in Steamboat will continue to thrive for future generations of children, families, young adults, elders, and visitors alike. It will provide lasting support for Jewish education, community programming, spiritual leadership, holiday celebrations, youth engagement, and the welcoming environment that defines Har Mishpacha.
As Pirkei Avot teaches:
“...for they are not your inheritance alone, but for you and for your children after you.”
By contributing to the Har Mishpacha Endowment Fund, you are helping ensure that there will always be a vibrant Jewish home in our mountain community — a place of connection, tradition, learning, resilience, and joy for generations to come.
Thank you for investing in the future of Jewish life in Steamboat Springs.
