Do you love the sights and sounds of crystal clear, clean water flowing in a river?  Do you have fond memories of skipping rocks over, wading through, floating down or fishing the beautiful rivers, streams and creeks that populate our state?  If so, the Yampa Valley Stream Improvement Charitable Trust (YVSICT) needs your help to continue its 40+ year history of restoring our rivers for the enjoyment of future generations.  We have a proven history of removing rusty old cars, concrete debris and dump sites from neglected waterways to improve the health of a river.

Our current effort, the Hardrock Rehabilitation Project, plans to restore approximately ½ mile of a degraded section of the Yampa River in an area a few miles west of Steamboat Springs, CO.  Currently the landscape is cluttered by concrete debris and car bodies, sloughing banks and a wide but shallow river.  We see its potential and plan to make it a healthy river again by strengthening its ecological resilience, enhancing vegetation, increasing the quantity and diversity of fish habitat, and improving angler and recreational access.  Construction is targeted for completion in 2028.

The project development cost is $176,831 and is planned in 2 phases.

Phase 1 consists of analysis and concept design.  It is funded solely by YVSICT and is approximately 60% complete.

Phase 2 consists of data gathering (site assessment, survey), design development and permitting.

In June 2026, the Yampa River Fund granted YVSICT a sum of money to support the Phase 2 site assessment work which is nearly complete.  The survey work was performed in October 2026 and is funded solely by YVSICT.

We need your help and are fundraising for Phase 2 design development.  Our goal is $41,635.  Please donate today.  Every contribution helps.  Thank you.
