As the 2026-2027 academic year commences, The Blue Bench is seeking to raise $50,000 to support school-based sexual assault prevention initiatives and empower the next generation of anti-violence advocates.
Globally, the UN reports that youth participation in community initiatives contributes to both individual development and community resilience. Local youth-led initiatives demonstrate tangible benefits for social cohesion and civic skills.
The Blue Bench's research-based prevention education programs in schools and youth groups are designed to empower young people to recognize sexually inappropriate behavior, intervene in harmful situations, support survivors, and challenge harmful norms that blame, silence, or minimize survivors’ experiences.
We believe that how we educate our youth today is the basis for how we, as a community, respond to sexual violence tomorrow. Together, we're uplifting young leaders in their efforts to build #TheFutureWeChoose.
About Prevention Education at The Blue Bench
The Blue Bench takes a community-wide approach to prevention grounded in upstream prevention and social diffusion theory. By addressing risk and protective factors before harm occurs and equipping key influencers to model and spread healthy norms, we create ripple effects that shift culture over time.
This involves coordinated efforts across schools, families, organizations, and institutions to prevent violence, support survivors, and promote a culture of respect and accountability.
We believe everyone has a role and responsibility to play in preventing sexual violence, and that lasting change happens when communities work collectively to create environments where harm is not tolerated and safety is the norm.
