Since opening our doors in 1985, GFH has stood as a crucial safety net and a harbor of hope for parents and children navigating acute housing crises across Weld County.

Our  Mission
Our mission is to provide temporary housing and support services for families experiencing housing instability.

Our Vision
At Greeley Family House (GFH), our vision is to empower all families in Northern Colorado to achieve long-term housing stability.

Who We Help
We exclusively serve families  experiencing housing instabilty in Northern Colorado:

  • 84% are single-parent households.
  • 55% identify as Hispanic or Latino.
  • 70% of adult residents enter employed, while the remaining 30% are actively seeking employment.
  • 100% maintain a drug- and alcohol-free environment.

Why We Help
For hard-working families living paycheck to paycheck, a single unbudgeted crisis—a sudden medical emergency, a job loss, a broken-down vehicle, or domestic violence—can dismantle a household’s financial stability. Parents are forced to make agonizing choices between paying rent or buying groceries, receiving medical care, or paying for childcare.

When housing is lost, children face trauma, school disruption, and displacement. We exist so that no parent has to face housing instability alone and every child has a safe, warm bed to sleep in while their family rebuilds.

How You Help
Your donation directly powers three critical pillars of our work:

Shelter Refresh & Facility Maintenance: Giving our 12-bedroom downtown shelter a comprehensive makeover—fresh paint, new furniture, cozy bedding, and necessary structural repairs—to create a warm, dignified, home-like sanctuary where families can heal.

Comprehensive Support Services: Funding case management, individualized budget counseling, and weekly Life Skills classes to empower parents to overcome debt and build long-term independence.

Direct Financial Aid & Prevention: Providing emergency eviction prevention grants (HPAP), rapid re-housing rental subsidies , and walk-in Resource Center relief to prevent homelessness before it starts.

Our Comprehensive Programs
We deliver a multi-tiered continuum of care designed to stabilize families at every stage of housing insecurity:

Emergency Shelter Program: Provides lodging in a 12-bedroom facility in downtown Greeley where up to 12 families at a time receive private bedrooms/bathrooms, shared kitchen/living spaces, and structured 30- to 90-day stays while working on savings and permanent housing search.

Homelessness Prevention & Eviction Diversion (HPAP): Delivers direct, one-time rental assistance to employed families facing delinquent rent or eviction notices, keeping children safely housed in their existing tenancies.

Rapid Response Rental Assistance: Connects unhoused families—to short- and medium-term rental subsidies and security deposit assistance to rapidly transition them into market-rate rentals.

Centralized Resource Navigation Center:  The Resource Navigation Center is designed to help families prevent housing crises before shelter entry is needed. The center connects households to critical community resources and provides direct financial assistance for rent, utilities, transportation, and childcare when funding is available.

Intensive Case Management & Life Skills Classes: Delivers bi-weekly one-on-one goal mapping, personalized budget counseling to eliminate debt, and weekly Life Skills workshops (tenant rights, lease compliance, wellness) with complimentary evening meals and supervised childcare on-site.
