Starting in 2017, the Greeley Multicultural Festival derives from the idea that we are a community of diverse cultures, and it is our desire to celebrate our similarities in a fun and engaging festival that exposes participants to world cultures in a local setting. In this important time in our nation’s history, we acknowledge the importance of building bridges to celebrate what makes us one strong nation.
The Greeley Multicultural Festival celebrates the diverse cultures embedded in the fabric of our community. We believe that a true experience of any multicultural festival is achieved when participants are fully engaged with all 5 senses: tasting, listening, seeing, touching, and smelling all cultures in a fun and engaging festival.
My participation in the festival began as a student performer in a Thai music ensemble. During my master's degree studies, I interned with the festival to learn about event management. Later, as a public school teacher, I brought my students to perform a multi-lingual arrangement of "Ode to Joy." Now, I serve on the board of directors. Each of these experiences strengthened my belief in how vital it is to highlight and celebrate the diversity of our community.
Our 2025 festival included food and performances representing cultures from North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. New to this year's event, Fulbright scholars were invited to share stories of their homelands with the audience. Next year, we plan to increase this type of programming diversify the entertainment to include visual and spoken arts alongside music and dance.
I strongly believe in paying performers for their time and talents. Any performance art takes honing skills and, like any industry, there are costs associated. Your gift supports professional performance groups with deep knowledge of the cultures they are representing. Help us get a head start on 2026 festival preparations!
