My connection to foster care is deeply personal.

I entered the system at age 11 after growing up in an abusive home, and from that point forward, much of my upbringing was shaped by time in foster care.

That part of my story is a big part of who I am today and is why I’m proud to serve on the board of Forward Steps.

Their focus on supporting individuals with foster care backgrounds as they move into and through post-secondary education is something I connect with in a real way.

That stage of life comes with its own challenges, and having access to the right resources, guidance, and support can make a meaningful difference.

Forward Steps is helping provide that foundation for individuals working to build a more stable and independent future.

If you feel led to support this mission, anything you’re willing to contribute is very much appreciated.

As a testament to the quality and importance of Forward Steps’ work, the organization was selected by the Colorado Department of Higher Education for a two-year matching grant to help expand support for Guardian Scholars.

Through this opportunity, every new gift and every increased gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar. To receive the full match, Forward Steps needs to raise $54,000 in new community support this year, and again next year.

If we meet that goal, it will bring $108,000 each year to the Guardian Scholars program, helping more young people with foster care experience access the financial support, guidance, and resources they need to keep moving toward education, stability, and independence.

That means your gift can go twice as far for Forward Steps scholars.

Thank you, Eric
