Andrew's Bikes Together Fundraiser

I have been a volunteer mechanic in the community-oriented bike shop ecosystem since 2014 and a volunteer with Bikes Together since 2019. Earlier this year, I joined the Board of Bikes Together and currently serve as Secretary. In the last 10+ years, I have seen firsthand how just a bit of time spent fixing someone's bike can be a big improvement in their life. Many of our patrons use their bikes to commute to work or school, or improve their health, so pumping up a flat tire, lubing the chain, and tuning their shifting really improves their day.

Even among community-oriented bike shops, Bikes Together is special for a few reasons. First, the strong emphasis on education ensures that people we assist can learn something about their bike, hopefully improving their self-sufficiency in the long run. Additionally, our commitment to recycling means that thousands of pounds of metal are diverted from the landfill to metal recycling facilities each year. Finally, and most importantly, Bikes Together strives to make bicycling accessible to more people by reducing financial barriers to owning a bicycle, and working to make the bicycling culture more welcoming to people of all kinds.
