At Project Self-Sufficiency of Northern Colorado, we empower single parents to achieve economic independence through college education, workforce training, and apprenticeships, while fostering strong and healthy families. Our mission is simple yet transformative – breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty and helping families build vibrant, self-sufficient futures for themselves and their children.
2025 Outcomes –
- Project Self-Sufficiency empowered 143 single parents and 276 children.
- Twenty-three single parents earned post-secondary credentials— 8 bachelor’s degrees, 10 associate degrees, and 5 certificates.
- Fourteen single parents graduated from our program with an average annual income increase of $37,953 from intake, all employed in their chosen careers.
- Nine cars valued at a total of $58,216 were awarded to single parents, along with numerous laptops.
- All single parents in our program were awarded between $1,500 and $6,050 in scholarships and allotments which they used for wraparound supports, as shown in the chart below.
40th Anniversary Celebration –
In 2026, Project Self-Sufficiency is celebrating 40 years of impact. Our 40th Anniversary is more than a milestone — it’s an invitation to shape the next four decades of impact. When a single parent gains stability, confidence, and opportunity, that transformation doesn’t stop with them. It ripples forward, opening doors for their children, and strengthening the generations that follow.
As we celebrate four decades of innovation, partnership, and barrier‑breaking support, we invite Northern Colorado to join us on March 12 for our 40th Anniversary Bring the Power Celebration at Embassy Suites from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Thank you for standing with us and empowering our work.
SelfPower Model & Stories –
Our SelfPower stories highlight the challenges, triumphs, and remarkable achievements of the single parents who have embraced the long-term support of Project Self-Sufficiency's SelfPower Model and rewritten their narratives.
