New CEO of the Colorado Symphony

Have you heard the news? Daniel Wachter has officially stepped into his role as the new President & CEO of the Colorado Symphony.

As a member of the Crescendo Society and Associate Board, I’ve already seen his genuine love for music, community, and connection.

Wachter first fell in love with Boettcher Concert Hall simply by being here — the energy of the musicians, the sound in the room, the sense of belonging.

“Music has always been a powerful joy and force in my life,” says Wachter. “It’s not just entertainment, it’s essential soul-food and creates connection, creativity, and expression.”

With decades of international leadership experience and a deep commitment to arts accessibility, he’s stepping in with a clear vision: expand access, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure Boettcher remains a vibrant home for future generations.

He believes the Symphony should feel like everyone’s symphony — whether you’re a longtime classical fan, a kid hearing live music for the first time, or a young professional just discovering how powerful these concerts can be.

“We have a responsibility, and a privilege, to serve all people,” Wachter says. “I want kids in rural towns and urban neighborhoods, longtime classical fans and brand-new listeners, to all feel: this is their Symphony, and they belong here.”

I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead — especially the continued focus on education programs, community concerts, and building a space where more people see themselves reflected in this music.

As the Colorado Symphony looks ahead to its second century, Wachter is eager to turn inspiration into action. “There is extraordinary momentum here,” he says. “From the excellent artistry of our musicians, conductors, and artistic leadership to the passion of our audiences, this organization is alive with possibility. And I couldn’t be more honored to help shape what comes next.”

Hi friends!

If you’re here, you likely know how much I love the Colorado Symphony. I’m raising funds this year to help keep live orchestral music accessible, inclusive, and thriving in our community.

The Colorado Symphony is the region’s only full-time professional orchestra — performing 150+ concerts a year and offering free and discounted tickets to schools, youth programs, and underserved groups. It’s a place where kids discover music, where families make memories, and where artists from around the world share their craft.

Serving on the Crescendo Society and Associate Board has given me a front-row seat to the Symphony’s impact. And this year, if our Associate Board collectively raises $5,000, a generous donor will match it — doubling every gift.

As a parent, I want my son Dodge to grow up with traditions like the annual Spooktacular and experience the magic of live music.

If you’re able to give, any amount helps and no donation is too small.

Thank you for supporting music, community, and connection.
