OHIO is Moving for PSC!!!

I was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis on February 14, 2023, and my life was forever changed. It is said that people diagnosed will either die or need a new liver within 10 to 12 years of diagnosis. There is no current or treatment which makes your donation paramount to finding a cure.

It's an interesting thing when one is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The lessons have been countless, the fear insurmountable at times, and the support and love necessary for survival. I just adopted two kittens and find myself wondering if that was irresponsible because they could very well outlive me and become someone else's responsibility. I see children and women and men much younger than me needing a life-saving transplant and feel immense gratitude, sorrow and fear. I think that is the nastiest part of this disease - the unknown. Will it be this year? Next Year? Ten years from now? PSC Partners Seeking a Cure are trying to help those of us with PSC by funding global research and connecting people with shared PSC experiences. My own Cleveland Clinic Hepatologist was awarded a grant this year by the organization, and he plans to create a drug trial with his funding. This is an exciting time for PSC with various developments on drugs to address the pruritus that comes with the disease - we still have so much further to go.
