Colorado Pet Pantry believes that pets are family members. We recognize that many pet owners experience periods of hardship, but those challenges should never lead to the painful decision of giving up a cherished pet.
Our nonprofit is based on the prevention model. By assisting pet owners with food and supplies, we can help prevent dogs and cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We work specifically alongside human food banks to ensure that humans get the food they need, and pets get the species-appropriate diet they require to stay happy and well fed.
From November 1st to December 9th, each donation made to Colorado Pet Pantry through Colorado Gives will be amplified by the Colorado Gives $1M Incentive Partial-Matching Fund.
This year, in the Central Western Slope region of Colorado, we hosted monthly open-to-the-public pantries in Grand Junction and Montrose.
At these locations alone, in 2025, we distributed 80,947 pounds of kibble and 16,359 cans to 2,814 families and their 9,868 pets, with the goal of keeping animals in their homes and out of shelters.
In this area, we also support 12 Distribution Partners with pet food and supplies, in an effort to further our reach. Through our Distribution Partners we are able to supply more pet food to areas such as: Carbondale, Clifton, Delta, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Montrose, New Castle, Parachute and Telluride.
More about Colorado Pet Pantry:
For Colorado Pet Pantry, this year marks 13 years of helping Colorado’s pets stay with their families, through more than 100 monthly statewide pet food pantries.
Because most of the pet food we distribute is donated, we’re able to feed a dog or cat for only $5 per month. Colorado Pet Pantry has developed an efficient distribution system, leveraging more than 1,400 volunteers, so we can keep the cost of feeding pets low, even at a time when price increases are causing expenses to continue upward.
Your donation not only allows pets to stay with their people, but also gives relief to our state’s hard-working animal shelters and rescues, by keeping loved pets in their homes.
Thank you!
