Hi Everyone,
I recently joined the Board of the Colorado Black Arts Festival (CBAF), and I am asking you to join me in supporting this powerful mission. As a native Coloradan, I grew up attending the festival every year. I still remember the vibrant visual art, music, dance, and handcrafted work from local artisans—expressions of creativity that were shared and celebrated by our entire community.
What I didn’t realize then was that Colorado has long been a hub for Black cultural expression. Our state has been home to extraordinary artists such as Floyd D. Tunson, Jack Price II, Edward Dwight, Dianne Reeves, Charles Burrell, Jordan Casteel, Cleo Parker Robinson, and so many more whose work has shaped both local and national arts landscapes.
Black art is a gift to all of us—a reflection of our shared history, a source of inspiration in the present, and a foundation for Colorado’s creative future. By supporting the Colorado Black Arts Festival, you help preserve timeless traditions, uplift emerging artists, and build meaningful pathways for young people to discover, explore, and create.
Your gift—of any size—helps ensure that Black art continues to thrive, inspire, and bring our entire community together for generations to come.
With a gift of any size you help:
- Build programming and training for youth and emerging artists.
- Increase the sustainability of the organization.
- Preserves Black art in Colorado to be celebrated by all for generations to come.
