Creating New Full-Length Works
Artists Amongst Us is developing two original, multidisciplinary works for the stage: Sol y Luna: 21st Century Tango and Themis.
Both productions are being created over time through collaboration among dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, filmmakers and other creative artists. We believe that developing ambitious new work takes time: time to experiment, compose, choreograph, rehearse, film and bring many artistic voices together.
Sol y Luna: 21st Century Tango
Sol y Luna explores Argentine tango as a living, evolving art form. Through original music, tango and Argentine folklore, dance, film and storytelling, the work explores love, loss, migration, belonging and transformation while asking what tango can become in the 21st century.
The first scene has already been composed, orchestrated, choreographed and presented as a work in progress in Denver. New music and scenes are now being developed as the work grows toward a full-length production.
Themis
Created by Noa Shapira, Themis draws inspiration from the Greek goddess of justice to explore questions of justice, human rights and our shared humanity through contemporary performance.
Portions of Themis have already been shared as works in progress in Denver, and the project continues to evolve through new artistic collaborations and the development of additional material.
Your Gift Helps Create What Comes Next
Funds raised through this campaign directly support the artists and choreographers, original music and composition, rehearsal and development, and film and media creation necessary to build these works.
Throughout 2027, audiences will have opportunities to encounter newly developed music, choreography and scenes from both productions through Artists Amongst Us salon performances, while the larger works continue toward full-length production.
Your support gives artists the time, resources and space to create something new.
