Specialized Fire Truck for Nablus

Our goal is to raise $110,000* to purchase a very specialized vehicle to add to the Nablus Municipality’s fleet. The truck is built narrow enough to fit into very tight spaces in the Old City and the four refugee camps in Nablus.

The current fire truck is from the 1970s and is almost out of service. It requires frequent maintenance, including changing spare parts that are difficult to find proper replacements and are very expensive.

This truck serves around 70,000 citizens (residents of the Old City and 4 refugee camps - Old Askar, New Askar, Balata, and Ein). In the past, the number of residents in these areas was much less than nowadays. The Nablus Fire Department considers a new vehicle to be a very high priority, especially for these marginalized areas that witness continuous attacks and raids of occupation forces. The response to such attacks should be quick to avoid a fire spreading to neighboring units in such narrow areas. Only this small truck can have accessibility to these areas.

Firefighters Attacked Doing Their Work

The firefighters of Nablus encounter harassment by Occupation forces while performing their humanitarian work.

In the past, several firefighters were physically injured by settlers and Occupation army forces. For example, one of them was shot in the right shoulder, another had his car hit by an IOF tank resulting in a fractured rib cage. Currently, they face difficulty reaching sites of fires in the presence of Occupation forces because the soldiers require an entry permit, and permits can take a long time to issue. This results in increased material losses, and may lead to loss of life given the inability to respond in a timely manner.

We are deeply grateful for your support of this project to help our Palestinian brothers and sisters survive and thrive on the land of their ancestors, shukran ikhtir!

*In addition to Colorado Gives we are also holding additional fundraising events to meet the $110,000 goal by April 5, 2026, inshah'allah.

**100% of your donations will go to the purchase of the fire truck -- BNSCP has no paid staff and our minimal overhead is easily covered by annual membership dues. Thus all funds raised go directly to a brand new fire truck!
