Supporting Aspen Center Families

The Aspen Center for Child Development is a remarkable daycare and preschool that is part of the OUR Center in Longmont. The Aspen Center is more than early care and education for its families. It is a place where children are deeply known, families are supported, and working parents are able to show up fully for their jobs and their communities because their kids are safe and nurtured. Right now, that stability is at risk for some families.

Recent federal decisions have put $10B in childcare funding on hold in five states, including Colorado. For families at the Aspen Center who rely on scholarship assistance, this uncertainty is not abstract—it could mean the difference between staying enrolled or losing access to care. While the OUR Center is covering the balance in scholarship assistance, they are only doing so through the support of local donors and funders.

A group of Aspen Center parents is coming together because we believe this community is worth protecting. When systems falter, neighbors step in. That’s what we’re hoping to do and we hope you’ll join us with a gift to help us reach our $10,500 goal—enough to cover one month of scholarship assistance for Aspen Center families who may be affected by these funding disruptions.

Gifts made in support of the Aspen Center for Child Development qualify for the Colorado Child Care Tax Credit when no goods or services are received in return. This credit allows donors to claim a state income tax credit equal to 50% of their eligible contribution, in addition to any applicable federal charitable deduction. Please note that contributions associated with the silent auction (such as bids on gift baskets) do not qualify for the tax credit, as they involve receiving something of value. A tax receipt with the appropriate documentation will be provided for all qualifying gifts from the OUR Center.
