#ColoradoGivesDay 2023 with The Initiative

Since 1985, The Initiative has been a beacon of hope, championing the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities. Founded by Sharon Hickman, our journey began with 'HOW,' Handicapped Organized Women, empowering women with disabilities. The need for change was clear - existing support systems weren't designed for them. Thus, the 'Domestic Violence Initiative for Women with Disabilities' was born.

In 2017, we embraced a new identity as 'The Initiative,' expanding our mission to serve all genders and address various forms of abuse. We are agents of transformation, advocating for justice, and creating a resilient, inclusive community.

Now, let's talk about the impact.

At The Initiative, we are not just an organization; we are a movement. We stand by our commitment to empower individuals with disabilities and address the systemic challenges they face.

When you support The Initiative, you enable us to continue our vital work. Your contributions help us provide essential services, expand our advocacy efforts, and transform lives. No matter the amount you give, you become a part of something bigger. You become a part of the movement to create a resilient, inclusive community.

Colorado Gives Day 2023, on December 5, is a day that resonates deeply with our mission. It's a day when we, as Coloradans, come together to celebrate the impact of collective generosity. It's a day when we join arm in arm with our neighbors, jump into the pool of positivity together, and set forth a wave of generosity that ripples out across the state.

Your generosity funds the following:

  • Direct Support: Your contributions go towards providing direct support to individuals with disabilities. From counseling to crisis intervention, your donation ensures that we can be there for those who need us most.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: We are passionate about advocating for change. Your support helps us drive policy changes, conduct awareness campaigns, and collaborate with partners to create a more equitable society.
  • Education and Resources: We believe that education is a powerful tool for change. Your funds enable us to create educational resources, conduct workshops, and provide information to individuals with disabilities and their communities.
  • Expanding Services: As we grow, so does our ability to serve more people. Your donations help us expand our services, reaching out to a wider range of individuals who need our support.

This Colorado Gives Day, be a part of our mission. Join us and make a profound impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. Let's create a resilient, inclusive, and just community together.

Thank you for supporting The Initiative, and for being a part of our journey. We are grateful for your generosity and your commitment to positive change.
