The Sheridan Rising Together for Equity Youth Council is a dynamic group of young leaders committed to improving mental health, creating a more inclusive and diverse curriculum, and opening doors to new opportunities for all youth in Sheridan. Through their work, the Youth Council is empowering the next generation by providing hands-on workshops and resources focused on personal and professional growth, college and career preparation, and leadership and advocacy skills.

Our members, ranging from 8th to 12th grade, are actively engaged in community projects and initiatives aimed at improving educational equity and discovering opportunities for all young people in Sheridan. They are building a sense of pride in their community, learning to advocate for themselves, and preparing to take on leadership roles both now and in the future.

Youth Council members have participated in a variety of impactful workshops, including:

• Advocacy 101
• Financial Literacy
• Automotive Basics
• Interview & Resume Preparation
• DIY Sewing
• Tobacco Awareness Advocacy
• Student Loans
• and much more!

Through these opportunities, our Youth Council members are not only gaining essential life skills but are also learning how to advocate for themselves, their peers, and their community.

El Consejo de Jóvenes de Sheridan Rising Together for Equity es un grupo dinámico de líderes jóvenes comprometidos con la mejora de la salud mental, la creación de un plan de estudios más inclusivo y diverso y la apertura de puertas a nuevas oportunidades para todos los jóvenes de Sheridan. Están generando un sentido de orgullo en su comunidad, aprendiendo a defenderse a sí mismos y preparándose para asumir roles de liderazgo tanto ahora como en el futuro.
