Golden residents who reside in the 80401 and 80403 zip codes within our service area are able to receive assistance with rent and utility payments, prescriptions, and medical co-pays. Other special requests are considered if funds are available. Proof of residency, identification, and documentation of need are required. We hold an annual event, the Back to School Shopping Spree, in August, is a partnership with the Golden SEU, Target at Denver West, and the Intermountain Division of The Salvation Army in Denver. Donations from the Golden community provide a $75 gift card for 60-70 children in Golden for them to purchase the clothing and shoes they need for school. The Intermountain Division provides a new backpack and school supplies for each child. Each year, during November and December, 250 or more members of local churches, service clubs, students from Golden schools, and residents participate in the annual Bell Ringing Campaign. Donations received at different ringing sites in the community during the holidays determine the budget for the coming year. Of the funds raised, 90% stays in Golden to assist those in need. Due to COVID-19, the requests for assistance are still high this year. Please give to support the work of the Golden SEU in serving the most vulnerable.
