August 28 is National Black Giving Day

Join the Movement. Build What Matters.

It’s the day Dr. King dared to dream out loud.

The day Emmett Till’s story ignited a national reckoning.

The day history asks: “What will you build?”

And we answer: "Struggle of Love Foundation."

At Struggle of Love, we don’t just serve our community—we stand with it, grow with it, and fight for it. We are building what lasts.

What Is Struggle of Love?

We’re more than a nonprofit.

We’re the village.

We are where youth find direction, families find hope, and the community finds strength.

Whether it’s emergency food support, youth mentoring, mental health access, or summer enrichment for our kids—SOLF is there.

Consistently. Unapologetically. Lovingly.

Then: The Seeds of SOLF

Launched from a trunk of a car by Joel and LaKeshia Hodge, Struggle of Love began by feeding families in need—no questions asked.

Today, we own a building, serve over 200+ youth annually, and run programs that transform lives.

From school supplies to job training, from trauma care to tutoring—we’re planting seeds that grow futures.

Now: Building the Future, One Cornerstone at a Time

Our Summer of Love Camp welcomed over 40 kids this year, where they danced, gardened, acted, and learned CPR from first responders.

We’ve grown youth mentors who once were campers themselves.

We’re launching Helping Circles—safe spaces for mental wellness.

We’ve launched a capital campaign to ensure our programs have a permanent home.

This is legacy work.
