For my birthday this year, I'm raising money for Mission Arvada, a homelessTo celebrate my birthday this year, I am fundraising for Mission Arvada, a homeless day shelter where I volunteer. My experience there has been awe-inspiring and eye-opening; I have met so many dedicated, compassionate people among the Mission’s staff and volunteers, as well as many resilient, determined individuals among our clients. Mission Arvada provides comfort and services to people who are living outdoors or in their cars, and every dollar donated directly supports those efforts. Mission Arvada of The Rising Church is a day shelter and navigation center serving people experiencing homelessness in Jefferson County. With the help of volunteers and donations, the day shelter provides basic needs such as hot meals, showers, laundry services, warm clothing and sleeping bags for people living on the streets and in their cars.  They also partner with service providers onsite to help address needs from mental health to health clinics, document replacement, legal services and more. The main goal is to get people housed so they offer in-depth case management and housing navigation services onsite.  They’ve helped 116 people into permanent housing in the last two years. With the continued support of Mission Arvada, 98% of those moving into apartments are still housed.
