In 1975, a handful of neighbors in the foothills of Larimer County, Colorado recognized a need and came together to establish a volunteer fire department. 50 years later, the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department has over 40 responders and is stronger than ever!

Our goal is to train and equip all first responders as emergency medical technicians or responders.

With our sprawling service area ranging from 20 to 90 minutes from the nearest hospital, having local EMTs/EMRs is key to providing help quickly. We contract with local medical organizations to provide professional EMT/EMR training to our responders. In addition, we equip each EMT/EMR with a fully-stocked medical bag and gear.

The total cost per responder is approximately $3,500.

For $25,000, we can train and equip seven new EMTs/EMRs to provide rapid medical response within our service area.

RCVFD continues to invest in equipment and technology to take us into our next 50 years. We are run entirely by volunteers and are 100% donation-based, receiving no tax dollars. We hope you will support us in our mission!
